This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to design, build & run a small to medium scale mushroom farm - as a hobby or as a business. It assumes no prior knowledge – we’ll walk you through the process step by step and be there to support you along the way.

The focus of the course is on teaching you the practical skills to grow mushrooms on a small to medium scale (e.g. 5-100kg / 10-220lbs per week).
What you decide to do with this is up to you - we aren't here to help you run your business but we can teach you info that will be useful if that's what you want to do. We also include lessons on the economics of mushroom production and a spreadsheet tool you can use to work out your production costs and profitability.

YouTube is an incredible resource which you can spend thousands of hours learning from. However, there are different ways of growing mushrooms and also lots of conflicting, incomplete and misleading information which takes time to sift through. It can also lead to unnecessary equipment purchases and all sorts of mistakes and failures. There's also just some information and insights that you won't find on YouTube.

Our course provides a structured, step-by-step process curated by experts, saving you countless hours of research and avoiding costly mistakes.

You can spend thousands of hours trying to work it all out for yourself or you can let us take you by the hand and massively shorten the learning curve. You’ll also benefit from being part of an active community of mushroom growers from all around the world who can support you too - a place to go to ask those specific questions to your situation (YouTube comments doesn't really compare to this!).

There is no set amount as the course is a self learning process so you can decide if you want to take it fast or slow. The course material itself is well over 15 hours of video lessons, but you'll obviously spend much more time putting the knowledge into practice. As a rough guide, it may take:

2-10 hours planning & designing
5-14 days building your set up
5-40 hours/week to run (depending on scale of growing: roughly 0.5 -1 hour per kg mushrooms/week)

The course is a hybrid design - it is self-paced but at the same time we also follow a 6 week programme which starts the day after enrolment.
Taking part in the 6 week program is completely optional and it's important to realise you have lifetime access to learn whenever suits you best.

The beauty of this online format is that you can access the membership area with the modules wherever and whenever you want.
You can set your own pace and rewind or pause what you want and make a cup of coffee when you want. You can keep coming back to the material and troubleshooting section as your growing progresses.

It's best to find a good supplier in your own country or as nearby as possible to reduce transport costs. We provide a list of suppliers in US, EU & AS/NZ as well as info about which strains to grow inside the course.

You can grow mushrooms in any climate - the equipment and running costs will just change depending on the ambient outdoor conditions. 

Most environmental conditions like humidity, light and CO2 levels can be easily and inexpensively managed in any climate.

Heating or cooling tends to be more expensive and energy intensive, especially during the fruiting phase where a lot of fresh exchange of outside air occurs. 

A feature with the Low Tech approach to mushroom growing is that there is no heating or cooling of the fruiting room. Growing when the ambient air temperature is between 10-30C (50-86F) works best in this case. Some people choose to only grow mushrooms seasonally for parts of the year when temperatures fall in this range. 

You can also choose to add heating / cooling solutions for the fruiting stage enabling you to grow all year round. 

It's entirely up to you! Quite a few current course members joined the course, knowing they would build their farm months or even years later. They found it really useful to start learning now and watch and learn from others' progress. You can take your time and plan how you want to do it alongside any existing commitments you already have. Remember, you get lifetime access so you can take things at your own speed and keep coming back to the lessons.
